Women's Writing and Artwork that Celebrates the Midwestern Landscape

Welcome to SEEDING the SNOW. We're glad you found us!

In 1994, a group of Chicago women camped out at Nachusa Grasslands in Western Illinois. We hiked and harvested seeds. We talked about ecological restoration and about the role of women in the restoration movement. That night, under a full moon and surrounded by bright fireflies above the summer prairie, we also talked about writing and publishing our thoughts.

We met again for hikes and potlucks, and the following January, on a cold Lake Michigan beach, SEEDING THE SNOW was born

Our mission is to provide a medium for written and artistic expression of women about nature; to foster connections to our midwestern landscapes; and to build a sense of community among writers, artists, and readers through social and cultural events.
